Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 July 2026
Neska collects nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting and no tracking of any kind. Everything you write, record or photograph is stored on your device and never sent anywhere.
What we collect
Nothing. Neska does not gather personal information, usage data, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, location, or diagnostics. There is no account to create and no sign-in.
Where your notes are stored
Your notes — including text, photographs, voice recordings and any captions — are stored locally on your device, in storage private to the app. They are not uploaded to any server, and the developer has no access to them.
Features that run on your device
Neska includes optional search that understands meaning rather than exact words, and can recognise names, places and dates in your notes. These use machine-learning models that are bundled inside the app and run entirely on your phone. Your notes are not sent anywhere to be processed, and the app does not need an internet connection for these features to work.
When information does leave your device
Only when you choose to send it, and only where you send it:
- Exporting a backup. If you export a backup, your device's share options let you send the file to a destination you pick — for example cloud storage, email, or another app. That destination's own privacy policy then applies to the copy you sent.
- Sharing a note. If you share a note to another app, that app receives what you shared.
- Opening a link. Tapping a web link in a note opens your device's browser and visits that website, which is subject to its own policies.
Neska never initiates any of these. Nothing is transmitted in the background.
Permissions the app requests
- Microphone — only while you are recording a voice note.
- Camera — only when you choose to take a photo.
- Notifications — to return a snoozed note to you, and for the daily resurfaced note.
Each is used solely for the feature described and only at the moment you use it. Recordings and photographs are saved to your device like any other note.
Children
Neska is not directed at children under 13, and because it collects no data, no information about anyone — including children — is gathered.
Deleting your data
Deleting a note removes it from your device. Uninstalling Neska removes all of its data, including every note, photograph and recording. Because none of it was ever sent anywhere, there is nothing else to delete and no request to make. If you want to keep your notes before uninstalling, export a backup first.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes — for instance if a future version of Neska adds a feature that needs to send data somewhere — this page will be updated and the date at the top revised. Any such feature would be optional and clearly explained before you used it.
